The entire body representing the interest of all students in Oyo State; NANS/JCC Oyo Axis hereby demand for the total shutdown of Henkel Limited Factory in Oyo State.

It is now 9 days that we lost our brother, a colleague from University of Ibadan, Mr. Gbadebo Richard to an ugly incident that happened at the late hour of Tuesday at Henkel Factory, Ibadan where the deceased was working as a factory worker.

Following the alarm raised by his co-workers, effort have been put in place to get to the root of the incident as to ascertain the nature of the death, whether it was an accident as reported or murder, and the situations that might have surrounded the accident if it were.

On Thursday, 30/07/2020 we met with the Oluyole D.P.O in person of SP. FEMI OKUNOWO who was very receptive and gave us details of our requests. The remains of the body was sent to University College Hospital, Ibadan for autopsy.

Our dear colleagues, the autopsy report came out and it shows that it was an accident. The IPO in charge of the case told us (Oyo State NANS and Family of the deceased) that we would alongside the men of the Nigeria Police Force visit the company to inspect the machine the following day.

Before the confirmation of the autopsy, Oyo State NANS has made so many advances to the company notifying them of our visit, calling for a dialogue and inspection, and same also after the confirmation via autopsy as to the situations surrounding the accident, but all to no avail.

On getting to the Factory today, in company of Special Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State on Students matters HON. VICTOR OLOJEDE, National Association of Nigerian Students Oyo State Axis Chairman and General Secretary, COM. OPAKUNLE OLUWAFUNMIBI MAYOWA and COM. OJETOLA BABATUNDE Y respectively.

A man who identified himself as ACP told one of the police officers present there to walk us out and denied the agitating students access.

This is inconsiderate and unjust, and must be redressed.

We the Executives of National Association of Nigerian Students, Oyo State Joint Campus Committee Axis hereby calls for the total shutdown of Henkel Limited Factory.

“`We are hereby calling on all Students of the State to be prepared for a massive protest if our demand is not met within 24hours.“`
